Join us at a partnering Salon & Spa near you on Thursday, October 2nd for a Girls Night Out of empowerment complete with salon pampering, spa delights, food, fundraising and more to help Cut Out Domestic Abuse.
Welcome to Girls Night Out to Cut Out Domestic Abuse™- a 100% volunteer led, zero budget awareness and fundraising event to break the silence, break the cycle and save lives. What began as a stay at home mom's personal moment of obligation to break her own silence of domestic abuse and in the process support, benefit and empower local victims and families impacted by this social disease of power and control, has now become a national turnkey movement led by survivors, grassroots advocates, volunteers and host salon partners across the country to simultaneously raise a collective voice to: SUPPORT ...efforts to educate family, friends, co-workers and community members how to recognize, respond and refer. BENEFIT ... grassroots domestic abuse prevention initiatives and local programs that help women and children escape domestic abuse. EMPOWER ...victims to break their silence and communities to collectively break the cycle. WHY: Chances are you or someone you know has been a victim of domestic abuse as an adult or as a child. It happens in college dorm rooms, escalates silently behind the façade of beautiful homes, follows children to school, impacts productivity in the workplace, has pervasive and complicated root causes and sometimes leads to death. Domestic abuse is a silent epidemic because there are countless numbers of victims who do not report or seek help due to barriers such as societal stigmas, embarrassment, culture, financial dependency and fear. The founder of Girls Night Out to Cut Out Domestic Abuse™ was a silent victim for 12 years until a personal moment of obligation while attending a Cut It Out program in August 2006 inspired her to create this national and local partnership event. From there a pilot event was hosted by tc salon in Bethlehem, PA and grew to nine partner hosts spanning the country in 2007. Now in its 3rd Annual Year, due to the the tireless dedication of its' founder and the extraordinary commitment of hundreds of volunteers from across U.S., Girls Night Out to Cut Out Abuse™ is catapulting into the national cause-marketing forefront with the message that there is HOPE for a peaceful and healthy life after abuse. Please join us on October 2nd at a Partner Host Salon to Break the Silence, Break the Cycle and Save Lives!
WHAT IS DOMESTIC ABUSE:
Domestic abuse is defined as a coercive pattern of power and control. It happens in many forms. Domestic abuse can be financial, emotional/mental, physical violence, sexual assault or stalking. It can also lead to death. Victims of domestic abuse may be men or women, young or old, poor or rich. This social problem is pervasive and has no socioeconomic boundaries.
Just as this can happen to anyone, everyone is a part of the solution to cut out domestic abuse.

THE BIG PICTURE OF Girls Night Out to Cut Out Abuse™:
While breast cancer and domestic abuse are in no way comparable, both take the lives of daughters, sisters, mothers, friends and sometimes even men. When you think about what the pink ribbon campaigns and the Komen Race for a Cure event have successfully accomplished for breast cancer awareness, research, advocacy, mobilization and support- it is truly remarkable. Imagine the social impact we can collectively have if we just build a fraction of this kind of awareness for the purple ribbon and the hope and courage it symbolizes for survivors, victims and children of domestic abuse and domestic homicide. We hope to do this by borowing the old adage that there is strength in numbers and gather thousands on the same night from coast to coast for an empowering, inspiring and effective Girls Night Out to Cut Out Abuse™ .
