CALLING ALL SALONS AND SPAS
for
National Pretty in Purple Week
May 1-7, 2011

WHAT:
Launched in August 2006, the Pretty in Purple™ Week (formerly Girls Night Out to Cut Out Domestic Abuse™) is a partnership between Purple Ribbon Council and salon and spa professionals everywhere to help raise awareness for domestic abuse prevention, outreach and support.

WHY:
Domestic abuse kills an average of 4 women everyday in the U.S., leaves thousands of children parentless, and 1 in 3 dating teens abused each year. The time is now to raise awareness, engage more people at the grassroots level, and spread the message of prevention to help Break the Silence, Break the Cycle, Save Lives!

WHO:
Purple Ribbon Council is a national 501(c)3 charitable awareness and domestic abuse prevention organization. Salon and spa professionals passionate about this cause participate in the campaign. Patrick McIvor, Matrix Artistic Director, is the Pretty in Purple™  National Ambassador & Spokesperson

HOW SALONS/SPAS GET INVOLVED:

  1. Set a Pretty in Purple™ Fundraising Goal.
  2. Determine how you will meet your fundraising goal during Pretty in Purple™ week. Some ideas are to hold a:
    • Cut-A-Thon
    • Purple Manicure Party
    • Purple Hair Extension Night
    • Purple Spa Party
    • Other “Purple” themed event
  3. Commit to donating $1 or more from every salon/spa services performed during Pretty in Purple™ week. (some salons/spas may choose to donate the entire month of May)
  4. Agree to Sell Purple Ribbon Butterflies to clients during Pretty in Purple™ week. (some salons/spas may choose to sell Purple Ribbon Butterflies the entire month of May) Purple Ribbon Butterfly sales are a way to build excitement about the Pretty in Purple Campaign, while raising critical awareness and dollars that can be credited to the salon/spas fundraising goal. Receptionists ask clients at point-of-purchase to buy Purple Ribbon Butterfly for $1 or more to support Purple Ribbon Council.  The client signs her or his name on the Purple Ribbon Butterfly and they are placed throughout the salon/spa during the entire month of May. Purple Ribbon Council will supply the paper Purple Ribbon Butterflies and promotional materials for salon/spa professionals.

REGISTER by April 1st and your salon/spa will receive a marketing kit with banners, fliers, and appointment booking cards.

*Salons and spas who raise $1,000 or more will be recognized for one year on our website in the Pretty in Purple™ “CIRCLE OF HOPE”
