Pretty in Purple™ Week is a fundraising and awareness campaign held the first week in May to benefit Purple Ribbon Council, a national 501(c )(3) awareness and domestic abuse prevention charitable organization. Dollars raised during the Pretty in Purple™ Campaign enable Purple Ribbon Council to:
- Raise awareness for the prevention of domestic abuse and teen dating violence
- Offer supportive care to the grandparents/guardians of children left parentless by domestic homicide
- Alleviate financial and emotional stress by providing caregivers of children orphaned by domestic violence with money to subsidize the cost of:
- A family vacation
- After school care or recreation activities
- Tutoring
- Medical or counseling costs
- Basic needs (groceries, clothing, co-pays, etc.)
- Attendance at Camp Butterfly, a weekend-long camp filled with fun activities, grief education, and peer-guided emotional support
- Other needs as identified
